Africa, Asia and the Americas Business Summit, 17 – 18 March 2008, Mauritius

The Executive Secretary of SACU Ms Tswelopele C. Moremi has been invited to give a key note address at the 2008 AAA Summit scheduled for 17 – 19 March 2008.

The 2008 AAA Business Summit which has been re-branded from what was known as “China-India-Brazil-Africa (CIBA)” has now been expanded to cover other countries from the three continents. It builds upon the inaugural programme organized in March 2007 in Cape Town and the theme of this year’s Summit is “Enhancing South-South Co-operation for Greater Economic Growth”

The Summit will bring together over 300 delegates from all over the world to discuss the opportunities from Asia, Africa and the Americas in order to increase collaboration between the Southern economy nations. The Summit will address key policy issues on how emerging nations can increase investment in-flows; trade and also capacity in sectors that allow them to create a sustainable competitive advantage. It will also address the important subject of infrastructure Development and in particular how developing countries may finance it. The Summit Forum will be organized in plenary sessions and in parallel workshops on specific themes and the key Focus areas of the Summit are:

  1. Renewable Energy Sources;
  2. Technologies and Financing Models
  3. Focus on IT Enabled Services
  4. Focus on Tourism
  5. Trade Finance;
  6. Venture Capital & Private Equity;
  7. Development Finance.
