Invitation to Regional Conference
As a culmination of the Commemoration of the Centenary, SACU will be hosting a high level regional conference on Friday 29th July 2011, at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, South Africa. The theme of the conference is "Implementing a Common Agenda for Regional Integration".
The objective of the Conference is to profile SACU, broaden stakeholder participation, and create awareness about the new SACU vision and Mission and the new work programme. The conference will also provide a platform for an exchange of views, which will contribute towards transforming SACU into a vehicle for deeper regional Integration, in line with its vision of being "an economic community with equitable and sustainable development dedicated to the welfare of its people for a common future".
An invitation is being extended to organisations and interested individuals to attend the conference. The SACU Secretariat has identified key speakers from notable organisations from within the region and beyond to share their experiences in the following areas:
- The role of Transport Corridors in Deepening Integration
- Challenges of Implementing/Financing Cross Boarder Infrastructure
- Industrial Policy as a Tool to Spearhead Economic Growth and Integration
- Achieving Balanced Industrial Development in SACU
- Changes in the Global Business Cycle and the Revenue Sharing Arrangement
- Positioning SACU within the broader Regional Integration Trajectory
- Transforming SACU into an Economic Community
