Technical Liaison Committees

In terms of Article 12 of the SACU Agreement, 2002, the following Technical Liaison Committees (TLCs) have been established: (i) Agricultural; (ii) Customs; (iii) Trade and Industry; and (iv) Transport. In 2008, the Council took a decision to establish the Finance TLC. These Committees comprise technical officials or experts from various backgrounds from the SACU Member States and are responsible for assisting and advising the Commission on technical aspects of the SACU Work Programme. Discussions are ongoing to review the Terms of Reference of the TLCs with a view to aligning their work to that of the Commission. In the interim, the work of the TLCs is undertaken by various Technical Experts as assigned by the Commission.
